No sample available

Native: Eastern N. America

Location: Cultivated in Europe for its autumn colours, and used in America in furniture manufacture.

Leaves are similar to Silver Maple (Acer saccharinum) but are less deeply lobed. They are most spectacular in autumn.

Acer rubrum

Flowers open in late March or early April and often have male and female flowers on separate trees. The dense red clusters give the leafless tree a beautiful red glow.

Fruits are also red on longer stalks than the flowers with wings 1cm, spread at an angle of 60 degrees.
