Foliage

Leaves look similar to the American Aspen (Populus tremuloides) but are more deeply toothed.

Flowers

Populus grandidentata

Open in March, males red with grey silky hairs about 5cm long, females greenish also about 5cm long.

Fruit catkins are about 1.5cm with two-valved capsules and ripen in May or June.
