Prunus mahaleb (St Lucie Cherry)
Native: Central and southern Europe
Location: Cultivated in gardens for its blossom and naturalised in eastern North America.
Leaves are rather small. The main vein is hairy on the underside and the stem usually bears two glands.
Fragrant flowers open in late April or early May about 1.2cm across.
