Prunus sargentii (Sargent Cherry)
Native: Northern Japan and Sakhalin
Location: Cultivated by roads and in gardens in Europe and North America.
Leaves have a long narrow tip, coarse teeth and glands at blade base. They colour dazzling orange and red in late September while other trees are still green.
Flowers open in early or mid April about 3-4cm across in closely set pairs.
