Native: China and Japan

Location: Grown as an ornamental in gardens.


Leaves have a few tiny teeth and a short stem. They are shiny above and less so beneath, with tufts of down in the vein axils.


Styrax japonica

Flowers are often produced in great abundance, the undersides of each branch densely packed with clusters of three to four flowers. They open in July and are about 2.5cm across.

Fruits are about 1.2cm long.
