Native: Southern Europe, particularly around the Mediterranean
Location: Sometimes grown in other parts of Europe for ornament
May be shrubby.
Flowers open in April about 2.5cm across in clusters of 8-12, sometimes massed together.
Fruits are spherical rather than pear-shaped, slightly wider than long, 1.2-1.8cm wide with pale hairs at first but becoming hairless and shiny on upper surface and almost hairless beneath.
